130 Inspiration Quotes For Those Who Need Inspiration

Oliver Huls says that this is the ‘Greatest discussion on Linkedin!’ and I have to say since starting this discussion some months ago that I have been amazed at the hundreds of individuals who have taken part in the process of answering my question in the Motivation Nation Group –  ’Give Me One Motivational Quote That Changed Your Life’.
So here are a whole lot more…
Parm Bhachu • Feel the fear and do it anyway…Susan Jeffers
Clayton Iverson • When you want to succeed as much as you want to breath, you have a shot.
E.J. (Ted) Lister • I haven’t found one yet that actually changed my life; therefore, if anyone has one I’d be interested in adopting it…
Zach Buckler • “Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!” -Rocky Balboa
Ann Bach • Thanks for all of these, really enjoyed reading the quotes. I’ve got a couple.
First is ”Do more than is required. What is the distance between someone who achieves their goals consistently and those who spend their lives and careers merely following? The extra mile.  - Gary Ryan Blair

The second is “Just do it!” Nike!

Erin Hillman • There are three quotes that I admire very much: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
“You’ve got to think about big things while you’re doing small things, so that all the small things go in the right direction.” – Alvin Toffler
“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too can become great.” – Mark Twain
I teach a job searching workshop and I try to post these quotes around the workshop area so that it will hopefully impact them in some way…even if just for that one “ah ha” moment.
Oliver Huls • @ Erin Great idea, I use these for my weekly e-mail to my staff…
Stephen Hildenbrand [LION] • “We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong.
The amount of work is the same.”~ Carlos Casteneda
It’s a good reminder, now and then.
Stephen Hildenbrand [LION] • Though, I just found, and completely agree with this one.
“It is important to do what you don’t know how to do. It is important to see your skills as keeping you from learning what is deepest and most mysterious. If you know how to focus, unfocus. If your tendency is to make sense out of chaos, start chaos.”~ Carlos Casteneda

Chaos is a good thing, now and then. You can’t improve thru steadfast complacency.

Boetcker
We can accomplish almost anything within our ability if we but think we can! Every great achievement in this world was first carefully thought out. Think—but to a purpose. Think constructively. Think as you read. Think as you listen. Think as you travel and your eyes reveal new situations. Think as you work daily at your desk, or in the field, or while strolling. Think to rise and improve your place in life. There can be no advancement or success without serious thought – George Matthew Adams

Lincoln was not great because he was born in a log cabin, but because he got out of it – James Truslow Adams

I do a lot of training with displaced workers who really need a boost of self-confidence and her quote really means if you do what you really love and want to do, you’ll always be good at it. Maurice James quote – love that, too – if you can look up you can always get up… great choice of words. Oliver Huls • @ E.J. (Ted) Lister - I think the power of motivational quotes are to act as a trigger in our brain. We all understand that to achieve more you need to work harder etc. However, perhaps one or two of these quotes awakens something within us to not only know the fundamentals for success but also makes us strive for our goals. If you get daily updates form this discussion, you can’t help but get uplifted and refocused even on the darkest days. Most of the stuff you read in motivational books you already know, yet we read them anyway. Why? As reminders perhaps or maybe to get refocused? Greatest discussion on Linkedin!
Lien (Leanne) Nguyen • Excellent point Oliver! Well said! You said exactly how I think about motivational books/quotes
Prof P.K.Keshap • True Oliver. This discussion is doing so for me.
E.J. (Ted) Lister • Perhaps I’m stuck on semantic language, and my own beliefs; I don’t believe in effort, work or goal-setting as a method of achieving what I want (but that’s me; it doesn’t mean it’s right).
Wanting and having, for the purpose of self-worth, status and success do not bring joy into my life; rather, at best, it brings periods of happiness, which ultimately do not last, resulting in unhappiness, and a cyclical need to acheive more, which is dangerously habitual and addictive as we pursue more and more emotions of happiness.
I believe that inspiration, not motivation, is a key factor in experiencing joy through the energy, play and vision of living with desire (again, semantics).
Motivation may help us endure the pain of ‘Getting There’ (destination, as it were); however, Inspiration ensures we experience the journey.
Deborah Hall • @Ted. Interesting insight. I didn’t ever think that I would discuss something on this thread, so thank you.
In response to your statement, I believe that to truly achieve what you want in life you must go within.

Silence. It’s where you must go to bring true peace to your life.

Unhappiness is what you get when you can’t sit silently in a room.
It’s those moments in between all of that mind chatter that are key….that silence when allowed to exist within you, is where inspiration comes from. When you live from a place of truth it brings peace. Peace brings happiness. Living in a state of happiness you can be love and in a state of love you can create more happiness.
Everyone needs a quiet place. The funny thing is, the quieter you become, the more you can hear! : )
Hugh Curley, Emotional Intelligence Speaker • Ted, Motivation and Inspiration are very different things and are used for very different results. You cannot use Aspirn to cure all pains, but it does help on some. We have to understand what we need and then select the correct cure.
Motivation will help us to pick ourselves up and keep moving to our goal.
Inspiration will help lift us up to a higher level.
I almost agree with what you said, but have a hard time with the “pain” part. Motivation will help us whether we have pain or not.
E.J. (Ted) Lister • Interesting…
Deborah, thank you for the inspirational comment; perspective, as it were. What our heart (inner-true-self) desires does not always have its say, so to speak, simply because our mind (outer-false-self) is speaking too loudly (usually telling us lies, attempting to motivate us with fear). I really enjoyed your comment–especially regarding the quiet place–I couldn’t agree more…
Hugh, thank you for your insight; I see your point. My only challenge in accepting everything written on this thread is the idea of a goal; to me it’s the journey that brings us joy, not the destination; therefore, I do not set goals, I simply enjoy the experiences with non-attachment or expectations, knowing that I’m growing as a result without having to aquire anything to demonstrate my achievements or self-worth. I am not this body, neither is this body mine.
It may be that motivation is an action of moving away from pain (fear), while inspiration is an action of moving toward pleasure (love)… just a thought…
This could take us on another thread… down a slippery-slope–all good stuff, thanks…
